Getting the Most From Your Accessories: Scarves in Summer

Posted by Jill Chivers in Shop Your Wardrobe Strategies, Videos

In this video with Imogen Lamport of Inside Out Style Blog, we talk about how to get the most out of your accessories and in particular, wearing scarves in summer.

Many of us don’t immediately think of scarves as the ‘go to’ accessory for summer – it adds another layer, and we think it’s going to make us feel hotter.

What Imogen and I explore in this video is the versatility of scarves and how they can be a wonderful accessory in summer:

Top tips for wearing scarves in summer:

  1. Give some thought to adding a scarf to your summer outfits – many summer outfits will benefit in terms of a pop of colour of print by including a scarf to them.
  2. Consider how you place the scarf on your body – don’t just throw it on, but place the scarf where you want attention and focus.  You may wear the scarf in a traditional way – hanging or looped around your neck, or you may choose to wear it in a different way, such as tied behind your back to give it a shrug/cardigan look, or around your waist to bring focus to that part of your outfit or body.
  3. Think of a scarf as being a ‘jacket item’ especially for evening or when indoors (when the air conditioning can be chilly), rather than adding an actual jacket, shrug or cardigan.
