I Am Happiest When [No.7]

Posted by Jill Chivers in Happy

Happiness is an inside job.

This is one of the most significant and transforming things I have learned in the short period of time I have been immersing myself in the landscape of happiness.

My thoughts create my feelings.  Which means that the experience I am having of my life, whether it’s joy, happiness and contentment or worry, stress and fatigue, or anything else, is coming from inside me.

This insight literally changed my life.  In a matter of moments.

Sure, there’s a lot more to this conversation, and I’m still having it, and will be having it for some time to come.  But that’s the essence of happiness, as a principle and in a nutshell.

This is revolutionary and yet timeless.

This isn’t a new theory but a returning to the principles that are eternal and enduring, and that apply to everyone, no matter what their life circumstances are.

There aren’t any gurus in this field, which is one of the things which attracted me to it (no more gurus please!).  But there is a community of generous and wise people who have been living and working with these principles for some time, and share them with others.  Here is one of my favourites.

Perhaps you too would like to be happier more often.  If that’s the case, then perhaps what I’ve been sharing with you in my experiments with happy will inspire you to have your own experiments with happiness, and to discover what makes you happier, more often.

I am happiest when (#7):

I am wearing animal print

It’s no secret I love animal print, and that I’ve chosen it as my signature style.  About 12 years ago, I had a deep interest and attraction to it but felt I needed to keep it in check, just in case I ran wild.  Then about 10 years ago, I dispensed with that idea and gave myself over wholly to my love of animal print.  Now, I wear it every single day, and it makes me feel great!

Ooh la la! My signature style of animal print.
